About Maria Majoré

Maria Majoré's artistic practice unfolds at the intersection of a complex geographical and cultural identity. Born in 1979 into a Moscow family, but in a region seven time zones away from Europe, where her parents had been posted to work for a few years, before she grew up in Moscow. From childhood, drawing was for her an instrument for making sense of reality.

Her training at a classical art school, then at an architecture college and later at the Moscow Architectural Institute (MARKHI), shaped her thinking and defined her professional path as an architect. That experience informed her visual language, in which line, construction and spatial logic take precedence.

Moving to Italy in 2022 marked an important phase of redefinition. Distance from her country of origin intensified her interest in Russian cultural roots and traditional forms. The result was a gradual shift from purely architectural drawing to a freer artistic practice — towards a postmodernism bordering on the new folk current.

Today Maria Majoré's work develops in three main directions:

Graphic and architectural synthesis — works in which painting meets structural rigour. Space and volume are read through a defined line and flat fields of colour, creating a balance between order and abstraction.

Postmodernism and tradition — a fusion, a juxtaposition and a dialogue between different cultures, styles and artistic currents.

Interiors and experimentation — the artistic language integrated into space through mixed media and work on the object, where art becomes part of everyday surroundings.

In 2025 her works were presented at the "Russian House" exhibition and later at the House of Trade Unions (Art of Moscow).

In 2026 she took part in the international fair ArteGenova 2026, confirming the relevance of her research: a constant dialogue between cultural memory and the contemporary European artistic context.
